As textile exports account for an important proportion of the city’s export products, relevant personnel of the Quanzhou Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau reminded exporters that they should focus on the following changes: First, the range of products that can apply for environmental labels. Textiles include handkerchiefs, scarves, shopping bags, belts and other textile clothing and accessories; carpets and mats and other indoor textiles; fibers, yarns and fabrics (including durable non-woven fabrics). Mattress products include spring mattresses; mattresses filled with latex, polyurethane foam and spring and other materials; wooden bed frames. Second, each product category must meet certain ecological standards. Textiles require limiting the use of harmful substances in the fiber; reducing the risk of allergic reactions to the product; and increasing the ability to prevent shrinkage and prevent discoloration. Mattresses are subject to stricter material use, toxic residue level restrictions, restrictions on indoor air pollution from mattresses, and standards that promote the use of more durable products.
Lost Textiles Environmental Label Changes in Europe
Recently, it was learned from the Quanzhou Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau that the EU has revised the standards for the issuance of environmental labels for textiles and mattresses, and the ecological environmental protection performance has once again become the focus of attention. It is understood that the new standard applies to the environmental protection label application submitted after July 9, 2009, and is valid until July 9, 2013.
